How To Locate Processor & System Information on Windows NT

SUMMARY

When you install a license file, reproduce a bug, or diagnose a problem, it is important to know the hardware platform and operating system you are working on. Some problems are unique to a particular platform, and operating system.

Each time you start your computer or reboot it, system information appears on the screen. However, it is not necessary to restart your computer to obtain this information.

You can use one of the following methods to obtain processor information for a personal computer that is running Microsoft Windows NT.

  1. Double-click the Control Panel icon in the Program Manager Main group.

  2. Double-click the System icon. The computer name is displayed at the top of the dialog box. Other processor information is listed in the System Environment Variables field box.

  1. Double-click the Windows NT Diagnostics icon in the Administrative Tools group.

  2. From the dialog box that opens, you can choose from seven different options that provide processor information.
