The information in this article applies to:
  • Softimage 3D for IRIX, version 3.5

SYMPTOMS

When you start SOFTIMAGE 3D for the first time, you receive the error message "Soft 3D, no such feature exists."

CAUSE

The LICENSE.DAT file was saved as All Files Type.

RESOLUTION

If you encounter this problem, complete the following steps to correct it.

  1. In the Program Manager from the SoftimageV3.51 Group, double-click the License.dat file.

Because the file was saved incorrectly, when you attempt to open it, the following error message appears:

Unable to open the Unicode Font. Will not be able to display certain characters.

The License.dat file then loads normally.

  2. Choose Save As from the File menu. The Save As dialog box appears.

  3. In the Save File As Type dialog box, select Text Files and click Ok.

  4. Exit Notepad and start SOFTIMAGE 3D.
