SYMPTOMS

Although you have previously connected to MSN, The Microsoft Network, at your modem's maximum speed, you are now unable to connect at this speed.

CAUSE

The MSN connectoids in Dial-Up Networking may be damaged.

RESOLUTION

Delete the two MSN connectoids in Dial-Up Networking by following these steps:

  1. In My Computer, double click Dial-Up Networking.

  2. Delete the connectoids named "The Microsoft Network" and "The Microsoft Network (Backup)."

  3. Right click on the MSN desktop icon and select 'Connection Settings'.
4. Go to Access Numbers and reselect both the primary and backup numbers.

When you next try to connect to MSN the two connectoids should be rebuilt.
