Last reviewed: August 4, 1997

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.0 for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

After you install Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3.0 for Windows 95, Microsoft Visual J++ may no longer function properly.

CAUSE

When you install Internet Explorer 3.0 on a computer running Visual J++, the Classes.zip file installed by Visual J++ is replaced. The version of the file installed by Internet Explorer 3.0 is not completely compatible with Visual J++. This may prevent Visual J++ from loading the necessary Java class files, and may prevent Visual J++ from functioning properly.

RESOLUTION

Upgrade Internet Explorer to version 3.02 found at http://www.microsoft.com/ie/download/. You must then upgrade to the latest Microsoft VM for Java, refer to Knowledge Base article Q163637, "INFO: Availability of Current Build of Microsoft VM for Java."
