The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft NetMeeting version 1.0 for Windows 95

SYMPTOMS

When you are conferencing with NetMeeting, any of the following symptoms may occur:

  • A conference member can hear the other member, but cannot be heard by the other member.
  • A conference member is displayed twice in the list of conference members, once as a voice-only connection, and once as a no voice.
  • You receive the following error message:

CONF caused an invalid page fault in module LHACM.ACM

CAUSE

One of the conference members is connected using a Slirp dial-up account or another emulated Internet Protocol (IP) connection. NetMeeting does not support the use of emulated IP connections.

MORE INFORMATION

A Slirp account is a shell account connection to a UNIX server that can emulate an IP account such as serial line Internet protocol (SLIP) or point- to-point protocol (PPP). This type of account enables a connection to the Internet or other Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) network.

These connections map port numbers on a real host to simulated SLIP or PPP IP addresses; these mapped numbers do not work properly with IP-based programs such as NetMeeting.
