PUB: Value Pack Error Messages after Double-Clicking Acmesetup.exe

SYMPTOMS

When you run Publisher Setup from the Small Business Value Pack or the Word and Publisher Value Pack, you may receive the following error messages:
Setup Error 544
Setup is unable to open the data file
'D:\PUBLISHR\ACMSETUP.stf'; run Setup again from where you originally ran it.

-or-

Setup Error 723
The processing of top-level information has failed.

-or-

Setup was not completed successfully.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you start Setup by double-clicking the Acmesetup.exe file.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, open the Publisher folder on the Value Pack bundle compact disc and double-click the Setup.exe file from that location.

MORE INFORMATION

You receive the same error with Publisher 97 Setup if you double-click the Acmesetup.exe file on the Publisher 97 compact disc. If you double-click Setup.exe, Publisher Setup runs correctly.
