SYMPTOMS

When you set the default document location to a Banyan Vines network drive, the following error message is displayed:

   Directory Not Valid

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, set the default document path in Word to a folder that contains a shortcut to the Banyan Vines server. When you save or open a document, use the following steps to click the shortcut to select the location for your document:

  1. Create a new folder, or use an existing folder on the local drive.

  2. In the folder, create a shortcut that points to the location you want to use on the Banyan Vines server.

  3. In Word, change the default document location to the folder that contains the shortcut. To locate this option, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the File Locations tab.

When you save or open a document, first select the shortcut and then name or open your document.
