How to Change the Installation Folder for Internet Explorer 3.0

When you download and install Internet Explorer 3.0, it is installed by default into the Program Files\Plus!\Microsoft Internet folder.

Internet Explorer 3.0 checks the registry for the location of an earlier version of Internet Explorer. If found, Internet Explorer automatically installs itself in that same folder.

To install Internet Explorer 3.0 in a different folder, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Start button, point to Setting, and then click Control Panel.


  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add/Remove Programs.


  3. In the Add/Remove Programs Properties box, double-click Internet Explorer 2.0 (or 3.0 if you want to move it) and uninstall it. Restart your computer.


  4. Install Internet Explorer 3.0.


  5. When you are prompted for a location, select the folder in which you want to install Internet Explorer 3.0. Internet Explorer is installed in a Microsoft Internet folder in the folder that you specify.
