The information in this article applies to:
  • Softimage 3D for Windows NT, versions 3.00 and 3.01
  • Softimage 3D for IRIX, versions 3.00 and 3.50

SUMMARY

It is possible to convert a Quadratic NURBS curve to a Cubic NURBS curve.

MORE INFORMATION

Successfully convert a Quadratic NURBS curve to a Cubic NURBS curve as follows:

  1. Convert a Quadratic NURBS curve to a B-Spline. Make sure to keep the
control points.

NOTE: This function works poorly if Keep Curve is selected in Effect -> Convert so be sure to select Keep Control Points instead.

  1. Convert back to NURBS. The scaling is slightly off, but good results
are possible after only slight tweaking.

REFERENCES

For Softimage 3D, version 3.5 as follows:

Reference Guide: A to H Interface, pages 432-436 describe the Effect -> Convert function.
