SUMMARY
=======

When changing the margins in the Page Setup dialog box in Works, the
indent markers on the ruler do not adjust accordingly. Consequently,
the following message is given:

   The width of your document is greater than the print width
   you have chosen in page setup. Text or pictures which extend
   past the right margin will be truncated during printing.

This problem can occur under a variety of circumstances:

1. Moving the right indent on the ruler to the right of the printable
   area designated in Page Setup. For example, if the left and right
   margins are set at 1 inch each, the widest printable area is 6.5
   inches on U.S. Letter paper. If the right indent marker is moved
   beyond the 6.5-inch marker on the ruler, the indent marker becomes
   hollow, signifying the indent is set outside the Page Setup
   margins. Choosing Print and clicking OK will produce the error
   message.

2. Placing a graphic on a page that touches or overlaps any of the
   margins set in Page Setup for a document. Choosing Print and
   clicking OK will produce the error message.

3. Performing a print merge to an ImageWriter with Show Field
   Names selected on the Edit menu and the field placeholders
   extend beyond the printable area set in Page Setup. To avoid this
   problem, choose Show Field Data from the Edit menu.

4. Creating text with indents at a set width (E.g. from 0 to 6.5
   inches on the ruler) and reducing the left and/or right margins
   in Page Setup from the Edit menu.

RESOLUTION
==========
To adjust this indent markers on the ruler, perform the following steps:

1. From the Edit menu, choose Select All.

2. Click and drag the right indent on the ruler to the point at
   which it changes from hollow to solid, or vice-versa.

3. Release the marker when it is solid.

MORE INFORMATION
================

After changing the left and right margins in Page Setup, the right
indent does not adjust to account for the change. This problem can
cause text to be truncated on the right, or can result in a larger
right margin than requested.

This problem also occurs when you switch between printers such as
the LaserWriter and the ImageWriter because they both have different
printable areas.

This problem does not occur in Works for the Macintosh 4.0.
