Summary:

Listed below are the most common error messages encountered during a
print merge in Microsoft Word versions 1.0x and ways to correct the
problems:

 1. "Too many nested INCLUDE files"

There is not enough disk space to build a form document.

 2. "Data record too short"

There are fewer fields in the data record than in the header
    record.

 3. "Missing comma in data record"

There are fewer fields in the data record than in the header
record and no paragraph mark ending the data file.

 4. "Data record too long"

There are fewer fields in the header than in one or more of the
    records that follow.

 5. "Unknown field name"

The field name in the form document does not match any names in
    the header record.

 6. "ENDIF or ELSE without IF"

Take out an "IF" in a valid IF-ELSE-ENDIF statement.

 7. "Missing ENDIF"

Take out an "ENDIF" in a valid IF-ELSE-ENDIF statement. Make sure
there is no space in the command. "END IF" is incorrect.

 8. "Field name redefined"

This message occurs when using ASK with a name that is already in
    the header record.

 9. "There cannot be a SET or ASK before DATA"

This message occurs when an ASK or SET statement precedes a DATA
    statement.

10. "Not a valid number to compare to"

If this message occurs with an IF statement, compare using <>
    symbols with a text string.

11. "Not a valid Word document"

This problem occurs when you use a data file that is not on your
    disk.
