Summary:

When you delete records from a database using the Delete command on
the Data menu, Microsoft Excel does not readjust any name other than
the name "Database."

The Delete command on the Data menu deletes all records that match
the criteria. Since this is a database command, it does not affect
other defined names.

For example, if the database were defined as $A$3:$C$20, "test" were
defined as $A$7:$C$7, and if the record in A5:C5 matched the criteria,
then, after the delete, "test" would still refer to $A$7:$C$7.

However, if you were to select A5:C5, choose Delete from the Edit
menu, and select Shift Cells Up, the name "test" would then refer
to $A$6:$C$6.

For more information about deleting records from a database, see
pages 343-344 in the "Microsoft Excel User's Guide 1," version 4.0. If
you are using Excel version 3.0, see pages 384-385 in the "Microsoft
Excel User's Guide" version 3.0 manual. If you are using Excel version
2.20, see pages 56 and 160 in the "Microsoft Excel Reference" version
2.2 manual.
