SYMPTOMS
========
 
During installation of the Excel 97 SR-2 CALL Function Patch, you may receive
the following error message:
 
   Cannot open Excel.exe. Excel.exe may be 'read-only' or on a drive which you
   do not have 'write' access.
 
CAUSE
=====
 
You may receive this error message if you have Excel 97 and Office 2000
installed on the same machine.
 
NOTE: If you do not have Office 2000 on the machine and you are getting this
error message, then any of the following may be the cause:
 
 - Excel.exe is set for Read-Only.
 
 - Excel.exe is in a directory that you do not have write access.
 
 - Excel.exe is not at SR-2 level. (You can locate the Office SR-2 update at the
   Office Update Site.)

RESOLUTION
==========
 
If you have Excel 97 and Office 2000 installed on the same machine, please
follow the instructions at the web site for Excel 97 and Office 2000 users. The

5. After you enter your e-mail address, click Continue.
 
6. Type your Password.
 
    - If you can't remember your password, click E-mail My Password and we will
      send it to you.

       - Computer Model
 
       - CPU Speed

    - The Problem
 
       - Describe only one problem at a time. If you are having more than one

       - Error Type
 
       - Question Title
 
       - Detailed Problem Description
 
       - Check one of the following:
 
          - I can duplicate this problem.
 
          - I can connect to other Web sites such as http://www.microsoft.com
 
          - It previously worked for me but is not working now.

8. When the request form has been completed:
 
    - Click Finish to submit your request.
