Managing Your Money with Managing Your Money Foreword
by Andrew Tobias

Managing Your Money, Andrew Tobias's popular financial
management program, has won critical praise from
reviewers:
"Overall, Managing Your Money is a versatile financial
planning tool."
   PC World
"If you have a computer, you'll certainly more than get
your money's worth out of this software."
   San Jose Mercury-News
"Managing Your Money is powerful, easy to use, and has a
good mix of features."
   InfoWorld

This January, Microsoft Press will publish MANAGING YOUR
MONEY WITH MANAGING YOUR MONEY, the first complete guide to
this popular computer program. Microsoft Press and MECA
Corporation will jointly promote the book and software in a
special mailing to computer and software dealers across the
country.
Written for the IBM PC, with instructions for users of
the Apple II edition, this book covers versions 2.0 and 3.0
of the software and includes information on the new tax
laws. Organized by the structure of the software, the book
first shows how to use the program's features. Readers will
learn how to create and effectively manage a budget,
project cash flow, calculate loan payments, and even set up
accounts receivable and payable ledgers for a small
business.
Author Jim Bartimo shows how individuals can use the
program to figure what they owe at tax time, and he
provides special instructions to help version 2.0 owners
enter the new tax rates into their programs. In addition,
the author suggests strategies to help plan for IRAs, tax
shelters, and payroll deductions, and offers guidance on
using Managing Your Money to determine insurance needs.
Managing Your Money users can track their investments
with the program's "Portfolio Manager." Bartimo
demonstrates how to record and monitor the performance of
any investment--from mutual funds to blue-chip stocks--and
how to use the program's analysis tools to determine
whether or not to sell. For serious investors, the author
gives an overview of Managing the Market, an add on program
for Managing Your Money. With a modem, investors can use
the program to call the Dow Jones News/Retrieval service to
obtain stock price information and automatically update
prices in their portfolios.
Calculating net worth is easy with this program. The
book gives instructions for collecting information from
sections of the program and for producing a personal
balance sheet.
The second section of MANAGING YOUR MONEY WITH MANAGING
YOUR MONEY is a collection of four hypothetical case
studies that allow readers to see the program in real-life
situations. Each case study presents a different financial
profile:
   * single person on a budget
   * two-income couple
   * serious investor
   * self-employed consultant
MANAGING YOUR MONEY WITH MANAGING YOUR MONEY is the
perfect companion to the minimalist documentation that
comes with this critically acclaimed financial- management
tool.
