SYMPTOMS
========

At the conclusion of the Microsoft Money 98 installation process, you may
receive the following error message:

   Qread.dll was unable to register itself in the system registry.

If you then attempt to remove Money 98 using the Add/Remove Programs tool
in Control Panel, you receive the following error message

   Setup is unable to open the data file <path>\Setup\Setup.stf;
   run Setup again from where you originally ran it.

where <path> is the path to the destination folder into which you
installed Money 98.

CAUSE
=====

This behavior can occur if you typed an apostrophe (') in the path to the
destination folder into which you installed Money 98.

An example of a destination folder that would generate the error messages
specified earlier in this article is:

   C:\Program Files\Microsoft Money '98

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this issue, reinstall Money 98.

When the Money installation program prompts you to select a destination
folder into which Money 98 should be installed, click OK to install Money
98 to the default destination folder.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Money 98.

MORE INFORMATION
================

When you reinstall Money 98, you create a second Microsoft Money folder
on your hard disk. To avoid confusion (as well as increase the amount of
free space on your hard disk), delete the folder created by the initial
installation of Money 98 and all of its contents.

You can easily distinguish this folder by the presence of an apostrophe
in the folder name.

For information about how to delete folders, click Start, click Help,
click the Index tab, type "deleting, files" (without quotation marks),
and then click Display.

NOTE: If you are using Microsoft Windows 98, click Start, click Help,
click the Index tab, type "deleting files, folders" (without quotation
marks), and then click Display.
