SYMPTOMS
========

After you install Microsoft Money 99 or Money 98, you may receive the
following error message the first time you attempt to start Money:

   Money cannot locate 'c:\quickenw\qdata' or cannot open it,
   possibly because it is a read-only file. You can change the
   read-only attribute in the Windows Explorer.
   If you have chosen the correct file and it cannot be accessed,
   you will need to open your most recent backup file.

   If the file is being used by another application, close it in
   the other application and try again.

When you click OK you receive the following message:

   To start Money, you must have a valid Money file open. What
   would you like to do?

      Open/work with an existing Money or Quicken file.
      Create a new file
      Restore a backup file

NOTE: The last option is not available.

CAUSE
=====

This behavior can occur if Quicken is installed on your computer. Money
Setup attempts to convert your Quicken file the first time you start
Microsoft Money.
