SYMPTOMS
========
 
When you connect to MSN Gaming Zone using Microsoft Internet Explorer version
3.02, 4.0, or 4.01, you may receive Java script error messages.
 
CAUSE
=====
 
This behavior can occur if the VB Script update (Microsoft Scripting Engines
3.1) is not installed on your computer.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method for your version of Internet
Explorer:
 
Internet Explorer 4.0, 4.01
---------------------------
 
1. Download and install Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1 (SP1). To do this,
   visit the following Microsoft Web site:
 
   http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download
 
2. Delete all temporary Internet files from your computer. To do this, follow
   these steps:
 
   a. Right-click the Internet Explorer icon on the Windows desktop, and then
      click Properties.
 
   b. On the General tab, under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files,
      and then click OK.
 
   c. Click OK.
 
3. Delete the Zone cookie from the Windows\Cookies folder.
 
4. Verify that the Enable JIT Compiler and Enable Java Logging settings are not
   selected. To do this, follow these steps:
 
   a. Start Internet Explorer.
 
   b. On the View menu, click Internet Options.
 
   c. Click the Advanced tab.
 
   d. Scroll down to the Java VM section. If the Java JIT Compiler Enabled or
      Java Logging Enabled check boxes are selected, click to clear them.
 
   e. Click OK.
 
Internet Explorer 3.02
----------------------
 
1. Download and install DCOM version 1.2 and Scr31en.exe from the following
   Microsoft Web site:
 
   http://www.microsoft.com/msdownload/vbscript/scripting.asp
 
NOTE: You must restart the computer after installing DCOM 1.2, and then restart
the computer again after you install Scr31en.exe.
 
2. Delete all temporary Internet files from your computer. To do this, follow
   these steps:
 
   a. Right-click the the Internet icon on the desktop, and then click
      Properties.
 
   b. Click the Advanced tab.
 
   c. Under Temporary Internet Files, click Settings.
 
   d. Click Empty Folder, and then click OK.
 
3. Delete the Zone cookie from the Windows\Cookies folder.
 
4. Verify that the Enable JIT Compiler and Enable Java Logging settings are not
   enabled. To do this, follow these steps:
 
   a. Start Internet Explorer.
 
   b. On the View menu, click Options.
 
   c. Click the Advanced tab.
 
   d. If the Enable JIT Compiler and Enable Java Logging check boxes are
      selected, click to clear them.
 
   e. Click OK.

If you continue to receive Java script errors after following the steps in the
resolution section of this article, use the following troubleshooting steps to
resolve the error messages:
 
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
 
2. In the Open box, type the following line, and then click OK
 
   regsvr32 <filename>
 
   where <filename> is one of the following files:
 
    - Shdocvw.dll
    - Actxprxy.dll
    - Mshtml.dll
    - Oleaut32.dll
 
3. Repeat step 2 for each file listed above.
 
If you receive an error message stating that Windows cannot find the file type,
follow these steps:
 
   a. Double-click the My Computer icon on the desktop.
 
   b. Double-click the hard drive on which Windows is installed.
 
   c. Double-click the Windows folder.
 
   d. Double-click the System folder.
 
      NOTE: If you are using Windows 98, and the System folder appears to be
      empty, click the Show Files link to display the folder contents.
 
   e. Double click the file you attempted to register.
 
   f. If the Open With dialog box is displayed, click Other, and then click
      Regsvr32.exe.
 
   g. Click Open, and then click OK.
 
If you receive an error message stating that the process failed, reinstall
Internet Explorer. After you start the Setup program, click the Core Components
Only installation option, and then follow the instructions on the screen to
reinstall Internet Explorer.
 
4. When you finish registering the files, delete the temporary Internet files
   again (see step 2 in the resolution section of this article), and then
   restart the computer.
