SYMPTOMS

If you are using Windows 98 Beta 3, you may receive a Control Required
error message when attempting to access the Windows Update Web site,
even if you have your Internet Explorer security settings configured
to accept ActiveX controls.

CAUSE

The ActiveX Control was not downloaded to your machine. The wupdmgr.exe
file necessary for the acceptance of the ActiveX Controls was not included

WORKAROUND

From the error message dialogue box, click Try Again. This will download
the wupdmgr.exe file, allowing you to access the Windows Update Web site.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The wupdmgr.exe file was included in the final release version of Windows
98, which is now available.
