SYMPTOMS
========

When your scene restarts, any Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) files
in your scene continue to play and do not restart. This behavior also occurs in
inner scenes.

CAUSE
=====

When a scene is set to loop several times, and the MIDI sound starts at the
beginning of the scene, Microsoft DirectAnimation continues to play the MIDI
file through the duration of all loops of the scene.

RESOLUTION
==========

To work around this behavior, use either of the following methods:

Method 1: Add an Offset to the MIDI Sound
-----------------------------------------

1. Right-click the MIDI sound and click Properties.

2. Click the Timing tab.

3. In the Offset box, type "0.1" (without the quotation marks).

Method 2: Change the Duration of the MIDI Sound
-----------------------------------------------

1. Select the scene.

2. On the Timing toolbar note the duration of the scene.

3. Select the MIDI sound.

4. On the Timing toolbar change the duration so that it is the same as the
   duration you noted in step 2.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at
the beginning of this article.
