The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Liquid Motion for Windows 1.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

When editing the properties of a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) link, you may
receive the following message:

   Invalid URL: mailto:example@microsoft.com
   Please correct the URL.

Where mailto:example@microsoft.com represents the destination protocol and URL.
Note that the protocol could be something like HTTPS (Secure Sockets Layer), MMS
(NetShow), or gopher (Gopher).

CAUSE
=====

The URL Link feature in Liquid Motion supports the following protocols only:

 - HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP)

 - File Transfer Protocol (FTP)

 - Links to the file system (FILE)

Liquid Motion prevents you from creating links using other protocols because the
Java applets used for playing Liquid Motion animations only support the URL
formats previously listed.

RESOLUTION
==========

To work around this behavior, you can use JavaScript to create the hyperlink.
Please note that Script Triggers will only be usable when the animation is
played in Internet Explorer 4.0 or greater.

To do this, follow these steps:

1. Select the actor you want to use as the source of the hyperlink.

2. On the Interactivity menu, click Script Trigger, and then click the Script
   Trigger tab.

3. From the Language list, click JavaScript.

4. In the Script Text box, insert the following JavaScript

   window.navigate("mailto:example@microsoft.com")

   where mailto:example@microsoft.com is the destination protocol and URL.

5. Close the Edit Click-JavaScript dialog box.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at
the beginning of this article.
