 - Microsoft Liquid Motion for Windows 1.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SUMMARY
=======

Some features of Microsoft Liquid Motion may not be displayed in all Web
browsers. For example, some of the advanced features in Liquid Motion are
displayed only if you view the animation in Microsoft Internet Explorer versions
4.0 and later. This article describes those features.

MORE INFORMATION
================

Animation features that require Internet Explorer version 4.0 or later for
playback include the following.

3-D Shapes
----------

Three-dimensional (3-D) Shapes used in Liquid Motion animations are actually
Microsoft DirectX files with a .x extension. DirectX files can only be played
back in Internet Explorer 4.0 and later.

Filters and Transitions
-----------------------

Liquid Motion uses the Dynamic HyperText Markup Language (DHTML) to display
filters and transitions in your animations. Liquid Motion renders a Java version
rather than a DHTML version of your animation to Web browsers with the exception
of Internet Explorer versions 4.0 and later. These browsers receive the DHTML
rendering. The Java version does not include the DHTML features.

Rotated Images and Text
-----------------------

Liquid Motion uses Microsoft Direct Animation to display the image or text as
rotated. Direct Animation is only supported in Internet Explorer versions 4.0
and later; therefore, this feature is not displayed in other browsers.

Spinning Images and Text
------------------------

Liquid Motion uses Microsoft Direct Animation to spin images and text. Direct
Animation is only supported in Internet Explorer versions 4.0 and later, so this
feature is not displayed in other browsers.

Some Audio Formats
------------------

The following audio formats will only be played back in Internet Explorer
versions 4.0 and later:

 - Waveform Audio (WAV) files

 - Musical Instrument Digital Interface (MIDI) files

 - Moving Picture Expert Group (MPG) files

 - MPEG Layer 2 (MP2) files

 - Music Publishers' Association (MPA) files

Animations viewed in browsers other than Internet Explorer version 4.0 will only
play 8-bit, 8000 Hz, mono, u-law audio (.au) files. The .au file format is an
audio digital file format supported by the Java programming language, developed
by Sun Microsystems.

Audio "Panning"
---------------

Liquid Motion uses DHTML to create the effect of Audio "Panning." Liquid Motion
generates the Java version rather than the DHTML version of your animation in
browsers other than Internet Explorer version 4.0 and later. The Java version
does not include the DHTML features.

Transparent Background
----------------------

Browsers other than Internet Explorer 4.0 use a Java applet to display your
Liquid Motion animation. Java applets do not support transparent backgrounds.
Java applets run as a separate application outside the browser, and therefore
contents rendered in the browser cannot show through to space taken up by the
applet.
