SYMPTOMS
========

Accessing the Paint tool is very slow when you have a large scene loaded.

CAUSE
=====

The delay is caused by all the materials that the Paint tool must define.

RESOLUTION
==========

To eliminate a delay, run two copies of SOFTIMAGE 3D on the same machine
(this can be done using only one license).

1. In the second copy of the software, select Get, then Element, and load
   your object. You can now paint the object.

2. When you are finished painting the object, select Save, then Selected
   models.

3. In the first copy of SOFTIMAGE 3D, reload the model (select Get, then
   Element).

To move between the two copies of SOFTIMAGE 3D, press ALT+TAB, or you can
minimize one copy by pressing ALT+F9.

STATUS
======

Paint's response time has improved for SOFTIMAGE 3D version 3.8.
