The information in this article applies to:

 - SOFTIMAGE Eddie for IRIX, version 3.5
---------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

You can not access the Window Management menu and icons, or view the Tool
Editors Helpline on the Title bar.

CAUSE
=====

With some machine settings, the default position of the Workspace and the
Tool Editors in SOFTIMAGE Eddie version 3.5 are positioned beyond your
monitor's Y resolution. As a result, you can not access the Window
Management menu and icons or view the Tool Editors Helpline on the Title
bar.

RESOLUTION
==========

You can permanently change the Tool Editor window's resource, or correct
the size temporarily by using the ALT+F7 shortcut for Move.

To permanently change the Tool Editor window's resource, you must adjust
the size and position of the corresponding XWindow. You can make the change
globally, which affects all users, or locally, which affects only the local
machine.

Global Change
-------------

1. Using jot or vi, edit the $EDDIE3DIR/res/Eddie* file.

2. Edit the settings on line 56 that appear with the following values:

      *ApplicationShell.geometry: 1146x924+134+0

Depending on your machine settings, it may be necessary to experiment with
the values before the Tool Editors are properly positioned. From left to
right, the four values on line 56 (1146 x 924 + 134 + 0) define the
following:

 - First value defines the X resolution.
 - Second value defines the Y resolution.
 - Third value defines the vertical borders. An addition sign defines the
   distance from the left edge of the screen and a subtraction defines the
   distance from the right edge of the screen.
 - Fourth value defines the horizontal borders. An addition sign defines
   the distance from the top edge of the screen and a subtraction sign
   defines the distance from the bottom edge of the screen.

Local Change
------------

1. Create a file called Eddie in your .desktop-$host directory. Enter the
   following line of text:

      #include <-the-path-to-your-eddie>/res/Eddie

2. Following the #include line, you can add any of your personal resources.

   In this case, copy/paste line 56 of the $EDDIE3DIR/res/Eddie* file,
   and modify the values to the desired window settings.

3. To adjust the size and position of the Eddie main workspace, edit the
   settings on line 51 that appear with the following values:

      .eddie.eddie.geometry: 1146x924+134+100

STATUS
======

This behavior is by design.
