SYMPTOMS
========
 
When you click a link on a Web page that attempts to start NetShow Player,
you may receive the following error message:
 
   Unable to create ActiveX Control
 
CAUSE
=====
 
This behavior can occur if the Dciman.dll file located in the
Windows\System folder is missing or damaged.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
Rename the Dciman.dll file (if it exists). To do so, follow these
steps:
 
1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
 
2. In the Named box, type "dciman.dll" (without quotation marks), click
   drive C in the Look In box, and then click Find Now.
 
3. If the Dciman.dll file is found, right-click it, and on the shortcut
   menu click Rename. If the Dciman.dll file is not found, skip to step 6.
 
4. Type a new name for the Dciman.dll file (such as Dciman.xxx), and
   press ENTER.
 
5. Close the Find window.
 
6. Extract a new copy of the Dciman.dll file from your original Windows
   95 disks or CD-ROM to the Windows\System folder. The Dciman.dll file is
   located in the following locations:
 
    - The Win95_08.cab cabinet file on the Windows 95 CD-ROM.
    - The Win95_11.cab cabinet file on the Windows 95 OEM Service Release
      2 (OSR2) CD-ROM.
    - The Win95_08.cab cabinet file on disk 8 of the original Windows 95
      DMF floppy disks.
    - The Win95_13.cab cabinet file on disk 13 of the original Windows 95
      non-DMF floppy disks.

7. Restart your computer.
