SYMPTOMS
========

You are working on a client machine and each time you attempt to use a
mental ray license, you are refused.

CAUSE
=====

This may be caused by the way the EXCLUDE function now works. The EXCLUDE
option now fully supports PACKAGES. The EXCLUDE function looks at the
PACKAGES list and breaks it into individual components.

A potential problem exists when an Extreme package is broken down, if the
breakdown includes mental ray, for example, the EXCLUDE function adds
mental ray to the list of components to ignore. Then, when clients attempt
to use a mental ray license, they are refused.

RESOLUTION
==========

To correct this, set the EXCLUDE function so that it lists the components
to exclude, and do not list mental ray.

In addition, you can set certain preferences with the MAX function. The new
MAX function sets the maximum limit for the number of licenses that are
used by the server using the EXCLUDE function. That way, you can limit a
client to the number of processors (mental ray licenses), ensuring that
other clients are not denied access to mental ray.
