SUMMARY
=======

If you have a hierarchy and all the models are inheriting material from the
root model to enable every node to have its own material, use one of the
following two methods:

1. With animation: This method assumes that the hierarchy is not animated,
   as you will lose all relational information (such as FCurves, etc.):

   a. Save the model hierarchy using Save->Model.
   b. Delete the model from the scene.
   c. Load the model by choosing Get->Element->MODELS.

2. Without animation: If the model is animated but not the
   materials/textures:

   a. Choose Save->Options, and activate "Do not save Materials and
      Textures unless animated."
   b. Save the scene.
   c. Exit SOFTIMAGE 3D, and then reload the scene. All (un-animated)
      materials should now be expanded.
