SYMPTOMS
========

When you call your Online Bill Payment provider in the bank place for one
bank (in the Online Banking & Investment drop-down list), an Account
Matching dialog box is displayed that lists an account at another bank.

For example, if you use the same CheckFree Services account as your Online
Bill Payment provider for multiple checking accounts at different financial
institutions, and you make a call to your Online Bill Payment provider from
one bank place, you may see the following Account Matching dialog box:

   Type of Account: <Bank A> <Checking #2>
   Account Number : <1234567890>

Where <Bank A> is the name of the bank place you are in, <Checking #2> is
the first unique name for a proposed new checking account at Bank A, and
<1234567890> is the account number of an account at a different bank (Bank
B) that you also use for Online Bill Payment with CheckFree.

To proceed, you must do one of the following:

 - Create a new account (Checking #2 at Bank A) with this account number,
   which would be incorrect.

    -or-

 - Select the correct account at Bank B for this account number, in the
drop-down list. Money then provides the following warning message:

The selected account is currently associated with the bank 'Bank B'.
Do you want to change the account so that it is associated with the
      bank 'Bank A' instead?

If you click No, you must select a different account, or create a
   new one.

If you click Yes, Money moves the account from Bank B into Bank A,
enabled for online services and enters the Apay instance into the
account. This would also be incorrect.

CAUSE
=====

You can enable up to 10 accounts for Online Bill Payment under one
CheckFree Services account. Accounts with CheckFree Services are normally
assigned by Social Security Number (SSN).

When you make a connection with CheckFree, CheckFree downloads any newly
scheduled automatic payments for that account (SSN). If you are making an
online connection at one bank place, Bank A, and receive a scheduled Apay
instance for a payment that was sent from another bank place, Bank B,
Money asks you to identify the Money account associated with this Apay, as
it cannot find it at Bank A.

This can also occur if the checking account at Bank B is the account
normally debited for your monthly CheckFree service fee, and you receive
notification of this charge during your connection from Bank A. Monthly
service charges are handled as Apays.

RESOLUTION
==========

If you have multiple accounts enabled for Online Bill Payment with the same
CheckFree Services account, associate all these accounts with a single bank
place, such as "Bill Payment Banks." For detailed steps, see the "More
Information" section later in this article.

If you have multiple banks enabled for both Online Bill Payment and Online
Statements, all using the same account (SSN) with CheckFree, there can be
other complications. Microsoft recommends that you contact your financial
institution to create separate account numbers for each individual
financial institution, not associated with your Social Security Number. You
will then need to disable and re-enable online services with this bank. For
detailed steps, see the "More Information" section later in this article.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.

This problem has been corrected in Microsoft Money 99.

Combine All Online Bill Payment Accounts into the Same Bank Place
-----------------------------------------------------------------

If you have multiple Online Bill Payment accounts with CheckFree Services,
all using the same account number (SSN), follow these steps to combine them
all into the same bank place:

1. When you receive the Account Matching dialog box described in the
"Symptoms" section of this article, select the correct account for this
Apay transaction, and click Yes in the resultant dialog box. This
combines the two accounts into one bank place.

2. Change the bank place name, to make it clearer that it contains accounts
from multiple financial institutions. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Click Contact Information for the newly combined Bank Place, and
       then click Modify.

    b. Type a New Name such as Bill Payment Accounts, and then click OK.

3. If you have other accounts associated with the second bank (Bank B)
that are not enabled for Online Services, you may want to merge these
into the newly created Bank Place. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Click the drop-down arrow next to Online Banking & Investments, and
then click the second bank name (Bank B).

    b. Click Contact Information, and then click Modify.

    c. Type the New Name, and then click OK.

NOTE: It is important that the spelling be exactly the same as the
new bank place you just created.

4. If you have other accounts that need to be merged into this same bank
place, but they are enabled for Online Services, you must disable Online
Services and cancel any scheduled Automatic Payments (Apays) associated
with these accounts, before you can merge them into the same bank place.
Once merged, you can re-enable them.

For additional information about how to disable, and re-enable Online
Services, and cancel any pending Apays, please see the following article

Use Unique CheckFree Account Numbers for Each Account
-----------------------------------------------------

If you have multiple financial institutions enabled for Online Statements
and Online Bill Payment through CheckFree Services, you should have unique
CheckFree account numbers at each account. Decide which bank(s) you want to
change the CheckFree account number for, and follow these steps:

1. Click the drop-down arrow next to Online Banking & Investments, and then
click the bank name. Click Contact Information, and note the phone
   number for your bank.

2. Call your bank and explain that you need to change the account number
used with CheckFree, due to a conflict with a second CheckFree partner
institution. Write down the new account number agreed upon.

NOTE: This could be a fictitious number, a business tax ID number,
or the SSN of another family member, who does not have an account with
   CheckFree.

3. Ask the bank for a list of all current automatic payment models. Write
these down. Ask the bank to cancel all pending Apay models.

NOTE: You must do this because all Apays at this bank are disabled
in the Bill calendar when you disable online services for the bank.

4. Disable online Services for all accounts at this bank. When finished,
   re-enable all services.

NOTE: In the Online Services setup wizard, make sure to enter the new
account number in the Social Security field of the Personal Information
   dialog box.

For additional information about how to disable and re-enable Online
Services, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge
   Base:

      ARTICLE-ID: Q175728
TITLE : Money: How to Disable and Enable Your Online Accounts

5. After re-enabling online services, you can re-establish any Apays that
you had the bank cancel. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. Click Bills on the navigation bar.

    b. Click the arrow next to the View and select to View By Payee.

    c. Find each payee you wrote down when speaking to the bank, and set
up the recurring transaction as an Apay again.

For additional information, please see the following article in the
   Microsoft Knowledge Base:

      ARTICLE-ID: Q149224
TITLE : Money: What Is an Apay and How to Enter One

6. Wait at least one day before sending the Apay instructions and
attempting to download statement information, using the new CheckFree
   account number.
