SYMPTOMS
========

After sending a successful electronic payment (Epay) to your online bill
payment provider, this payee appears twice in the payees list. Every time
you make a new payment, a new payee is added.

Also, if you attempt to cancel a scheduled payment, you receive the
following error message:

   Money has attempted to send an invalid request to Online Services.
   Please try your call again, or call Online Services Customer Support
   if this problem persists. You can find the number on the Contact
   Information tab in the Online Banking area.

CAUSE
=====

If your file has more than one payee with the same name, Money cannot match
the payee. As a result, Money creates a new payee. This can occur if you
have two payees with the same name, but different account numbers or
addresses.

Money creates the duplicate payee without all the information stored in the
original payee, such as the account number. The missing account number
causes the "invalid request" error message when you attempt to cancel it.

NOTE: You may not see more than one payee in your Payee List, and still
have duplicate payees in your file. This can happen if you ever deleted a
payee in the Payee List, and then created a new payee with the same name.
Although deleted from the list, it is still an existing payee in your Money
data file.

RESOLUTION
==========

Create a new payee with a totally new name and use it for future payments
to this payee.

To resolve the "invalid request" error message, edit the payee to include
the account number. For additional information, please see the following
article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION
================

To prevent this problem from occurring, use unique names to indicate two
accounts with the same company. For example, if you have two bills to ABC
Utilities, one for gas and one for electricity, each with different account
numbers, create the following payees:

   ABC Utilities {gas}
   ABC Utilities {electricity}

Or, if you have two separate charge cards with ABC Credit Card Company with
different account numbers, create two payees, with unique identifiers, such
as the last four digits of the account number:

   ABC Credit {1234}
   ABC Credit {4321}
