SYMPTOMS
========
 
When you attempt to sign in to the MSN Gaming Zone, you may receive the
following error message:
 
   You entered an invalid user name and/or password. Please try again.
 
CAUSE
=====
 
This behavior can occur if any of the following conditions are true:
 
 - You typed an invalid Zone Member ID or an incorrect password.
 
 - The Zone user name or password information stored on your computer is
   damaged.
 
 - You are connecting to the MSN Gaming Zone through a firewall or proxy server.
 
 - Certain Microsoft Library files are missing or are the incorrect version.
 
 - The Zone password authentication server is unavailable.
 
 - The Zone Member ID you use is banned because of code of conduct violations.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
To resolve this issue, use the following methods in the order in which they are
presented. After each method, test to see if the issue is resolved. If the issue
continues to occur, proceed to the next method.
 
Verify Your Password
--------------------
 
1. Connect to the MSN Gaming Zone at the following Web site:
 
   http://zone.msn.com
 
2. Click Help.
 
3. In the Choose A Help Area box, click Member Services.
 
4. Click Forgot Your Password.
 
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to request that a copy of your password
   be sent to you in an e-mail message.
 
   NOTE: Your password is sent to the e-mail address associated with your Zone
   Member ID. If you did not provide a valid e-mail address when you signed up
   for a Zone membership, you cannot receive your password.
 
Verify Your Login Status
------------------------
 
1. Connect to the Zone.
 
2. Click Help.
 
3. In the "Choose a help area box", click Member Services.
 
4. Click Can't Log In? Check Status.
 
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to check your login status.
 
Reset Stored Usernames and Passwords
------------------------------------
 
If your stored user name or password information is damaged, download and run the
Zone_pw.exe file from the Microsoft Software Library to remove the stored user
name and password information from your computer. You can save your user name or
password information again when you sign in to the MSN Gaming Zone.

Microsoft Library Files Are Not Installed

Certain Microsoft Library files may be missing or damaged. You may be able to
resolve this issue if you download and install the Windows Libraries Update. To
do this, follow the appropriate instructions for your version of Microsoft
Windows and Microsoft Internet Explorer on the following Microsoft Web site:
 
   http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/contents/common/mfc.htm
 
On the Windows Update Web site, click Product Updates, and then click Microsoft
Libraries Update under Recommended Updates.

Zone Password Authentication Server Is Unavailable
--------------------------------------------------
 
If the issue continues to occur after you step through each of the preceeding
methods, the Zone password authentication server may be unavailable. Please
disconnect from the Zone and try connecting again at a later time.
