SYMPTOMS
========

If you print a Line Chart, lines appear as different patterns of dots and
dashes to distinguish each item charted, but the legend for each item shows
a small square with a pattern in it that does not match the actual lines.

CAUSE
=====

The legend being printed is the legend for the Bar Chart, not for the Line
Chart.

RESOLUTION
==========

There is no workaround for this problem when printing to a black and white
printer.

However, when printing to a color printer, select the option to "Print
reports and charts in 3-D color." The color of the squares in the legend
will then match the color of the lines in the chart. To do this, follow
these steps:

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.

2. Click the General tab.

3. Under Display, click to select the "Print reports and charts in 3-D
   color" check box.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article.
