SUMMARY
=======

The following information provides techniques on how to speed up processing
time when working with meta-clay:

 - reduce the meta-clay resolution to almost nothing. To do this, from the
   Model module, choose Meta-Clay -> Setup and increase the numerical
   values (to five or ten) for Wire-Frame Slice Size and Render Slice Size.

   Even if you are in Wireframe, SOFTIMAGE 3D considers the tesselation of
   the meta-clay; it is usually only noticeable when you have numerous
   meta-clays floating around.

 - hide each meta-clay object.

 - convert them to polygons and reduce them.

 - replace each meta-clay object with primitive spheres.

 - hide the camera and camera interest.

If you continue to experience a slow down, then the envelopes may be
causing the problem, not the meta-clay.
