The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Internet Gaming Zone, version 4.0
---------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

You may be unable to view portions of the new Zone if your browser's
settings are not set properly. The Zone site uses ActiveX controls and
Java applications. If the appropriate settings are not enabled in your
browser, you may experience the following symptoms:

 - You see blank screens.

 - You cannot view some areas of the Zone.

 - A red "X" appears in place of game room names.

 - When you log in to the Internet Gaming Zone (IGZ), you receive the
   following error message:

      We're sorry: We are unable to detect the Internet Gaming Zone
      software on your system. To troubleshoot this problem, please
      consult the Log on and Connection Problems section of the Zone FAQ,
      which you can access by clicking Zone Help.

RESOLUTION
==========

Configure the appropriate settings in your browser. To configure Microsoft
Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

1. Start Internet Explorer.

2. On the View menu, click Options.

3. On the Security tab, verify that the following options are enabled:

    - Enable ActiveX Controls And Plug-Ins
    - Run ActiveX Scripts

4. Click the Safety Level button.

5. Change the setting from High to Medium.

6. Click OK, click Apply, and then click OK.

MORE INFORMATION
================

If you continue to experience the same problems, you should try reducing
your security settings to Low, log in to the Zone, and then change your
security settings back to Medium.

Users have also reported that removing the check mark from Java JIT
Compiler Enabled corrects the problem.

To do this, do the following:

1. Start Internet Explorer.

2. On the View menu, click Options.

3. On the Advanced tab, verify that the following is not selected:

    - Java JIT Compiler Enabled

4. If there is a check mark next to Java JIT Compiler Enabled, click to
   clear it. Click OK, and then click Apply.

5. Restart Internet Explorer.
