This article discusses how to merge information from your database to a
certificate document created with the Works Certificate Wizard.
 
Once the Certificate wizard is completed, it will be a Draw document.
Information from the database can only be merged into a Word Processing
document. This article steps you through copying the certificate from
the Draw document into a Word Processing document.

To move the certificate information into a Word Processing document, do
the following:
 
 1. Create and complete the certificate wizard. For information on how
    to create a wizard document refer to pages 11-12 of the Microsoft
    Works User's Guide.
 
 2. Make any changes to the certificate then save the document.
 
 3. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
 
 4. On the Tools menu, click Group.
 
 5. On the Edit menu, click Copy.
 
 6. Open a new Word Processing document.
 
 7. On the File menu, click Page Setup.
 
 8. Change your page orientation to landscape (the image laying on its
    side).
 
 9. Click OK.
 
10. On the Edit menu, click Paste. The certificate will appear on your Word
    Processing document.
 
11. Resize the certificate slightly until you see the insertion point
    blinking in the upper left corner of your document. To resize the
    certificate:
 
     a. click anywhere on the image of the certificate
 
     b. locate one of the corner handles
 
     c. click on the handle and drag to resize the certificate
 
12. Press the RETURN key until the cursor is on the line where you
    want to merge in the database information. For example, if you need
    information from the database to appear about half-way down the
    certificate, then press the RETURN key until the insertion point is
    half-way down the certificate.
 
13. If you need to position the cursor anywhere on the certificate, set
    tabs on the ruler. For example, if you need information from the
    database to appear about four inches into the certificate, set a tab on
    the ruler at the four inch mark then press the TAB key For information
    on how to set tabs refer to page 154 of the Microsoft Works User's
    Guide.
 
14. On the Format menu, click Font and Style. Select the desired font,
    size and style then click OK.
 
15. On the Insert menu, click Database Field.
 
16. Insert the desired field.
 
17. Repeat steps 12-16 until you have inserted all the database
    information.
 
18. If you want to resize the certificate back to its original size, do
    so. You may need to re-position your field information slightly.
