MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

 - Macintosh LC 550 or higher
 - System 7.1 or later
 - A Double-speed CD-ROM drive
 - 13" Color Monitor or bigger
 - 8 MB of memory (RAM) and 8 MB of available hard-disk space
 - Optional: Printer or network compatible with System 7.1 or later
 
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
----------------------
 
To install The Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean, please follow the
steps below:
1) Insert the MSB-Ocean disc in your CD drive.
2) Double-click the Magic School Bus - Ocean icon.
3) Double-click the Install icon
4) Follow the instructions on the screen.
 
LOCATING AND STARTING THE PROGRAM
---------------------------------
 
The title is located in the Magic School Bus - Ocean folder. This folder
is in the MSKids folder and the MSKids folder is on your hard drive.
 
Steps to locate and start the program:
1) Make sure the Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean CD-ROM disc is in
   the CD-ROM drive slot.
2) Double-click the Hard Drive icon on your desktop.
3) Find the MSKids folder and double-click.
4) Find the Magic School Bus - Ocean folder and double-click.
5) Double-click the Magic School Bus - Ocean icon to start the
   program.
 
APPLE MENU BAR
--------------
 
Use the Apple Menu Bar to access the printer settings and system
information.
 
On 13" monitors, the Apple Menu Bar is deactivated by default. You
can activate the Apple Menu Bar by pressing COMMAND+M on the keyboard.
COMMAND+M is a toggle command. It will toggle between activating and
deactivating the Apple Menu Bar.
 
OPTIMIZING PERFORMANCE
----------------------
 
- VIRTUAL MEMORY AND 32-BIT ADDRESSING
The program may run slowly if Virtual Memory is on. The program requires
32-Bit Addressing to run correctly.
 
To turn off Virtual Memory and turn on 32-Bit Addressing:
1) Select the Apple Menu.
2) Select Control Panels.
3) Select the Memory control panel.
4) In the section for Virtual Memory, select Off.
5) In the section for 32-Bit Addressing, select On.
6) Close the window by clicking the box in the upper left hand corner.
7) Reboot your Macintosh to activate these new settings.
 
- SCREEN SAVERS
If you are running a Screen Saver, you may have problems running the
Magic School Bus Explores the Ocean . It's recommended that you disable
the Screen Saver. Refer to the documentation for your Screen Saver for
instructions to turn off the Screen Saver.
 
PRINTING
--------
 
If you have trouble printing, you may want to check to be sure you have
the current Page Setup settings and the latest printer driver installed.
It may be necessary to call your printer manufacturer to request a
printer driver update. You may also want to try turning off the
Background Printing feature.
 
To modify the Page Setup settings or turn off the Background Printing
feature, it is necessary to access the Chooser on the Apple Menu. If
necessary, you can activate the Apple Menu Bar by typing COMMAND+M from
inside the program. See the Apple Menu Bar section for more details.
 
PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION NUMBER

The Product Identification Number will be required by Product Support
Services. While running the program, you can get the Product
Identification Number by pressing CONTROL+SHIFT+I. (Hold all three keys
down at the same time).

A.M. and 8:00 P.M. Eastern time, Monday through Friday, excluding

When you call, you should be at your computer and have the appropriate
product documentation at hand. Be prepared to give the following

1) The version number of the Microsoft product that you are using
2) The type of hardware that you are using
3) The exact wording of any messages that appeared on your screen
4) A description of what happened and what you were doing when the
   problem occurred
5) A description of how you tried to solve the problem

hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays.

Access, via modem, sample programs, device drivers, patches, software

Access the Microsoft Knowledge Base and Software Library. The Microsoft
World Wide Web site is located at http://www.microsoft.com. The
Microsoft Gopher site is located at gopher.microsoft.com. The Microsoft
FTP site is located at ftp.microsoft.com and can be accessed via
anonymous logon.
 
- COMPUSERVE, AMERICA ONLINE, AND GENIE
Access the Microsoft Knowledge Base, the Microsoft Software Library, and
participate in MS forums. On CompuServe, at any ! prompt, type go mskb
to access the Microsoft Knowledge Base, go msl to access the Microsoft
Software Library, and go microsoft to access Microsoft application
forums. To access the Microsoft Knowledge Base on America Online, click
the GO TO menu, type microsoft in the Keyword box, and click Knowledge
Base in the Microsoft Resource Center. To access the Microsoft Knowledge
Base on Genie, type m505 at the Genie system prompt.
