SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to play one of the games listed at the beginning of this
article, you may experience one of the following symptoms:

 - The screen may be black.

 - The computer may stop responding (hang).

 - The screen may be distorted.

CAUSE
=====

This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:

 - An SIS6205-based video adapter is installed in your computer

 - The video driver for the SIS6205-based video adapter is not fully compatible
   with Microsoft DirectX technology.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this issue, contact your video adapter manufacturer to inquire about
how to obtain and install the latest version of the video driver for your video
adapter. If your SIS6205-based video adapters is built in to the motherboard for
your computer, contact your computer or motherboard manufacturer to inquire
about how to obtain and install the latest version of the video driver for your
video adapter.

NOTE: The updated video driver does not need to be DirectX-enabled or
DirectX-Certified to resolve this issue.

If the issue continues to occur, reset the video refresh rate for your monitor.
To do this, follow these steps:

NOTE: Most video drivers designed for Microsoft Windows 95 do not allow you to
change the video refresh rate for your monitor, although some third-party
vendors include software with their video drivers to provide this feature.

1. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

2. Double-click Display.

3. If you are using the retail version of Microsoft Windows 95, on the Settings
   tab, click Change Display Type.

If you are using Microsoft Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 (OSR2), on the
   Settings tab, click Advanced Properties.

If you are using Microsoft Windows 98, on the Settings tab, click Advanced.

4. Click the Adapter tab.

If you do not see an Adapter tab, follow the steps in the "More Information"
   section later in this article.

Use the Refresh Rate box on the Adapter tab to manually reset the video refresh
rate for your monitor. To do this, follow these steps:

1. On the Adapter tab, click Adapter Default in the Refresh Rate box.

2. Click OK. If you are prompted to test the setting, click OK.

3. If the setting appears to function properly, click Yes.

If the setting does not function properly, click No, and then follow the steps
in the "More Information" section later in this article.

4. Click OK, and then close Control Panel.
