The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Money 98
 - Microsoft Money version 5.0
---------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

When you make a call to an Open Financial Connectivity (OFC) financial
institution or service provider, using Money 98 or Money 97, in Windows 95,
your system stops responding (hangs) and you must restart your computer.

CAUSE
=====

This occurs if CompuServe program WinCIM version 3.0.1 is installed on your
system. A file installed by WinCIM, Rpawinet.dll, causes this. All versions
of Rpawinet.dll prior to 2.7 cause this problem. CompuServe has the 2.7
version available which should fix this problem.

You may experience these symptoms even if you do not use CompuServe
explicitly as your Internet Service Provider. For example, you may be using
a proxy for Internet connectivity.

RESOLUTION
==========

On the World Wide Web, download the CompuServe Virtual Key from
the following location:

     http://www/compuserve.com/rpa/index.htm

An alternative resolution is to rename the file and then get the latest
version of WinCIM - 3.02.

NOTE: Renaming this file may cause some areas of CompuServe to not function
properly. You may need to remove the .old extension from this file when
using other features of CompuServe.

To rename the Rpawinet.dll file, follow these steps:

1. Close Money.

2. Ensure you can view all files and their complete names by doing the
   following:

    a. Double-click My Computer.

    b. On the View menu, click Options.

    c. On the View tab, click Show All Files and make sure that the "Hide
       MS-DOS File Extensions For File Types That Are Registered" check box
       is cleared.

    d. Click OK to these changes and close My Computer.

3. Click the Start button point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.

4. Type the following in the Named text box and click Find Now:

      rpawinet.dll

   By default, the file is installed in the Windows\System folder.
   In Windows NT 4.0, the file is installed in the Winnt\System32 folder.

5. Right-click on the file, and then click Rename on the shortcut menu.

6. Rename the file to "Rpawinet.dll.old", (without the quotation marks).

7. Restart Money.
