SYMPTOMS
========
 
When you attempt to connect to Money online services to send a letter to your
financial institution or Online Bill Payment service provider, Money may not
respond, and you may receive the following error message:
 
   One or more of the characters in this letter are not valid. Please review it,
   and then try sending it again.
 
CAUSE
=====
 
This behavior can occur if your financial institution's Home Banking service
provider is Integrion (formerly VISA InterActive), and you typed one or more
extended characters in either the Subject box or in the body text of the e-mail
message. Integrion does not support extended characters in e-mail messages.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
To resolve this issue, remove any extended characters in the Subject box or in
the body text, and then click OK.
 
To prevent this issue from occurring, do not type any extended characters in the
Subject box or the body text when you send a letter to your financial
institution or Online Bill Payment service provider.
 
MORE INFORMATION
================
 
If you type or paste extended characters in the body text, you receive the error
message when you click OK.
 
If you type or paste extended characters appear in the Subject box, you do not
receive the error message when you click OK, and Money does not send the letter.
The letter remains on the screen.
 
Extended characters are ASCII characters that you cannot type directly on the
keyboard. Extended characters include the copyright symbol, symbols, and
characters that include foreign langauge pronunciation marks, such as a tilde or
umlaut.
 
To type an extended character, you must press and hold down the ALT Key as you
type a sequence of numbers on the numeric keypad. You can also use Character Map
to select, copy, and paste extended characters into a document.
