The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Automap Streets Plus for Windows, version 5.0
 - Microsoft Automap Trip Planner for Windows, version 5.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

When you select a web link in Microsoft Automap Trip Planner or in Microsoft
Automap Streets Plus, your web browser does not start, or you may receive the
following error message:

   Your browser could not be launched. Close any open application and try again.
   If nothing else is open, re-install your browser and try again.

CAUSE
=====

This error message is generated if your Internet browser does not support
automatic URL switching. Netscape Navigator 2.0 does not register itself in
Windows 95 to allow automatic URL switching. The Internet browser must be
properly registered to allow you to access the Internet websites from Automap
Streets Plus or Automap Trip Planner.

RESOLUTION
==========

Install Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 to your computer. Installing Microsoft
Explorer 3.0 installs the settings and files needed to enable automatic URL
switching. The latest version of the Microsoft Internet Explorer is available
for free download from the Microsoft Internet web site at:

   http://www.microsoft.com/ie

After you install the Microsoft Internet Explorer, Windows 95 can automatically
start your default browser. The first time you run Internet Explorer, it will
ask if you wish to set Microsoft Internet Explorer as your default Internet web
browser. If you wish to continue to use Netscape Navigator as your default web
browser, click "NO."

MORE INFORMATION

can configure Dial-up settings, proxy connections and other options for basic
Internet access using your present Internet Service Provider.
