----------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows 95, version 7.0
 - Microsoft Internet Assistant for PowerPoint 95
----------------------------------------------------------------------

IMPORTANT: This article contains information about editing the registry.
Before you edit the registry, make sure you understand how to restore it if
a problem occurs. For information about how to do this, view the "Restoring
the Registry" Help topic in Regedit.exe or the "Restoring a Registry Key"
Help topic in Regedt32.exe.

SYMPTOMS
========

If you install the PowerPoint Internet Assistant and then try to export
a presentation as HTML, you may receive the following error:

   Not all files were saved properly. Do you wish to delete existing
   files?

CAUSE
=====

When you export a presentation as HTML, the Internet Assistant looks
in the Windows Registry to find the default name and company. This
information is stored in the following Registry key:

   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MS Setup (ACME)

If the MS Setup (ACME) key is missing or incomplete, the Internet
Assistant may fail.

RESOLUTION
==========

Method 1: Rename the Setup Table File and Run Setup
---------------------------------------------------

1. Locate the Setup Table File and change its name. By default, the
   Setup Table File is located in the C:\Msoffice\Office\Setup folder.
   If you have Office Standard the name of the file is Off95std.stf.
   If you have Office Professional, the name of the file is
   Off95pro.stf.

2. Change the name of this file to something else. For example, you
   might change the name of Off95std.stf to Off95std.bak. Make a note
   of the new name you give this file; you must change the file name
   back later.

3. Insert Office disk 1, the Office compact disc, or connect to the
   network share from which you originally ran Office Setup. Run the
   program called Setup.exe.

   NOTE: Do not run Setup from the Add/Remove Programs control panel.
   If you do, you receive an error message similar to:

      Setup cannot access the required initialization file.

4. Click Continue until you see the Name and Organization dialog box.

5. Type some text into the Name and Organization text boxes. Ideally
   this should be your name and your company name, but it doesn't have
   to be. Click Continue.

6. When Setup asks you to confirm the Name and Organization information,
   click OK.

7. Continue Setup until you reach the next dialog box that has an Exit
   Setup button. When you see this button, click it.

8. Restore the Setup Table File to its original name and location.

You should now be able to export your presentations as HTML.

Method 2: Create a .reg file to recreate the MS Setup (ACME) key
----------------------------------------------------------------

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys And
Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and Delete
Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics
in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you edit it.
If you are running Windows NT, you should also update your Emergency Repair
Disk (ERD).

1. Run Notepad or another text editing program.

2. Create a file that contains the following text:

      REGEDIT4

      [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MS Setup (ACME)]

      [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MS Setup (ACME)\User Info]
      "DefName"="Name"
      "DefCompany"="Organization"

   If you wish, replace Name and Organization with the your actual
   name and company information.

   NOTE: REGEDIT4 needs to be the very first line in the file

3. Save the file. Give it a name with a .reg file extension. Name it
   something like Name.reg.

4. In Windows Explorer, double-click the .reg file you just created.
   You should see a message similar to the following:

      Information in Name.reg has been successfully entered in the
      registry.

   If you do not see this message, open name.reg up in Notepad and
   make sure the file matches the example exactly.

You should now be able to export your presentation as HTML.

MORE INFORMATION
================

When you run setup for the first time you are prompted for your name
and company name. After entering this information, the MS Setup (ACME)
key is created in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER branch of the registry. If user
profiles are enabled, the HKEY_CURRENT_USER branch is available only
to the person who is currently logged on. For additional information,
