SYMPTOMS
========
 
The Gaming Devices tool in Control Panel may indicate that no devices are
connected to the computer even though one or more SideWinder game devices
is connected.
 
NOTE: This behavior occurs with both the Microsoft SideWinder Gaming
Devices software version 1.0 (originally included with Microsoft
SideWinder game pad version 1.0) and the Microsoft SideWinder Gaming
Devices software version 1.5.
 
CAUSE
=====
 
This behavior can occur if you manually delete the Device ID for your
SideWinder game pad in the Gaming Devices tool.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
To reassign a deleted Device ID, follow these steps:
 
1. In Control Panel, double-click Gaming Devices, and then click Device
   Assignment.
 
2. In the Assignment list, click a device number.
 
3. In the Device Selection list, click Microsoft SideWinder Game Pad or
   Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro.
