SUMMARY
=======

The following article discusses ways to troubleshoot hardware and system
problems you may encounter when running the games listed in the applies to
section of this article. This information is from the Monster Truck Madness
Readme.txt file.

MATROX MILLENIUM POWERDESK PCI ONLY BOOTS 50 PERCENT OF THE TIME

DirectX 2.0 Setup installs Millennium DirectDraw drivers that do not
work properly with the later PowerDesk drivers.

If you installed DirectX 2.0 after you installed the PowerDesk drivers,
reinstall the PowerDesk drivers.

If this does not correct the problem, contact Matrox to obtain updated
video drivers or install a later version of DirectX.

IF YOU ARE USING A UNIVBE VIDEO DRIVER

Univbe does not allow DirectX 2.0 to work correctly. Disabling
the line in the Autoexec.bat file that calls Univibe corrects the
problem and allows DirectX 2.0 to work correctly.

Open the Autoexec.bat file.

Search for the line that contains a reference to UNIVBE.

Add REM to the start of the line to disable it, as follows:

      REM UNIVBE.DRV

Restart the computer.

NOTE: To use the Univbe video driver again, edit the Autoexec.bat
file again and restore the line by removing the REM text from the
beginning of the line.

"A REQUIRED .DLL FILE, DDRAW.DLL, WAS NOT FOUND" ERROR MESSAGE

If you receive the error message "A required DLL file, DDRAW.DLL, was
not found," you need to reinstall DirectX. DirectX is a system component
that allows for more efficient hardware use. DirectX is installed on the
computer when you install one of the games listed in the applies to
section of this article.

To reinstall DirectX, follow these steps:

NOTE: You must reinstall DirectX from the newest game CD-ROM. Older
versions of DirectX do not overwrite newer versions.

Insert the compact disc from one of the games listed in the applies to
   section of this article.

Open Windows Explorer, and then select your CD-ROM drive.

Open the Setup folder on the game compact disc.

Double-click the DirectX folder, which is inside the Setup folder.

Double-click the Dxsetup.exe file to run DirectX\plain\fs18 \'99\f4\fs20 Setup.

Click Reinstall DirectX.
