SYMPTOMS
========

When you convert a Works for Windows 3.0 document to Word 7.0, all even-
numbered footnotes are lost; the odd-numbered footnotes are converted to
endnotes.

NOTE: By design, the Works for Windows converter converts footnotes to
endnotes.

STATUS
======

We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the
Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND
==========

To work around the problem, open the document in Works for Windows and then
save it as Rich Text Format (*.rtf). When you open the document in Word
7.0, both the odd and the even footnotes will be displayed.
