SUMMARY
=======

After you download Statements and read them, Money will match the
downloaded transactions with transactions already entered into your
account register.

Money searches the account register for all transactions, including
those cleared or reconciled, (see the NOTE below) within the date range
specified in Options. The default range is 60 days. The Payee,
Category, or Memo information is not considered during matching.

If the downloaded transaction includes a check number, Money looks for
a matching check number. If it does not contain a check number, Money
looks for a matching amount.

If there is more than one transaction that matches, Money will further
look at the date or amount to find the best match. Specific details
are listed in the section below.

NOTE: Money 4.0 will ignore any previously downloaded transactions
when matching. These are usually marked with an E, but may be
displayed with a C or R if a Balance action has been started, or they
have been manually marked as Cleared or Reconciled. To tell if a
Cleared or Reconciled transaction was electronically downloaded, you
can tell Money to mark it as unreconciled. If an E appears, it was
originally downloaded. Then go ahead and re-mark it as Cleared or
Reconciled.

Option, or the Date Range option, see Money online Help or see the

MORE INFORMATION
================

Money 4.0 - Transaction Has Check Number
----------------------------------------

If the downloaded transaction has a numeric check number, Money starts
with the oldest transaction in the Date Range, looking forward until it
finds the first check number match. Note that Money ignores all
transactions without check numbers, even if the Date and Amount are
exact. Then two things may occur:

 - If Confirm is on (default):

Money asks you if this is the match. NOTE: It does not look at
the amount; it only looks at the check number. You can say yes,
or postpone this matching process. Money 4.0 will also let you
keep looking for other possible matching transactions.

 - If Confirm is off:

Money continues looking for other transactions with the same
check number and picks the one with the closest amount.

After finding a match, Money 4.0 automatically marks it as
cleared (E or R) in the register.

Money 4.0 - Transaction Has No Check Number
-------------------------------------------

If the downloaded transaction does NOT have a check number, Money
starts with the oldest transaction in the Date Range and searches
back until it finds the first amount match. Then two things may occur:

 - If Confirm is on (default):

Money asks you if this one is the match. You can say yes, or
      tell it to keep looking.

 - If Confirm is off:

Money continues looking for other transactions with the same
amount and picks the one with the closest date. This is
      automatically entered into the register.
