SYMPTOMS
========
 
When you use the Does Not End With comparison in a Works 3.0 or 4.0
filter, any fields that contains fewer characters than are contained in
the Compare To section of the New/Modify Filter dialog box are not
displayed in List view.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
Works 4.0

To work around this problem if you are using a single level of comparison
with the Does Not End With option:
 
1. On the Tools menu, click Modify Filter.
 
2. In the Comparison box, click Ends With.
 
3. Click the Invert Filter check box to select it.
 
4. Click OK.
 
To work around this problem if you are using more than one level of
comparison with the Does Not End With option:
 
1. On the Tools menu, click Modify Filter.
 
2. In the Comparison box, click Ends With.
 
3. Click the Invert Filter check box to select it.
 
4. Click OK.
 
5. Click the field selected for that level of the filter, and then click
   Copy on the Edit menu.
 
6. On the Insert menu, click Field.
 
7. Type a name for the field, and then click OK.
 
8. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
 
9. On the Tools menu, click Create New Filter. Under Field, click "(none)"
   and then click the field you just created. Click the other comparisons
   you want added to the filter, and then click OK.
 
Works 3.0

To work around this problem if you are using a single level of comparison
with the Does Not End With option:
 
1. On the Data menu, click Define Filter.
 
2. In the Comparison box, click Ends With.
 
3. Click the Invert Filter check box to select it.
 
4. Click OK.
 
To work around this problem if you are using more than one level of
comparison with the Does Not End With option:
 
1. On the Data menu, click Define Filter.
 
2. In the Comparison box, click Ends With.
 
3. Click the Invert Filter check box to select it.
 
4. Click OK.
 
5. Click the field selected for that level of the filter, and then click
   Copy on the Edit menu.
 
6. On the Form menu, click New Field.
 
7. Type a name for the field, and then click OK.
 
8. On the Edit menu, click Paste.
 
9. On the Tools menu, click Create New Filter. Under Field, click "(none)"
   and then click the field you just created. Click the other comparisons
   you want added to the filter, and then click OK.
 
MORE INFORMATION
================
 
When you enable the Invert Filter option you invert every comparison
contained in the filter, not just the Ends With comparison. Therefore, you
must create separate filters for the other comparisons you want to use.
