SysSound/SysOptic V1.1

--- Audible window shading, different system-ping.
     --- Alternative 'visible' system-ping (e.g. for MagiC-PC)

SysSound works only if the XBIOS sound routines of the Falcon are
available. Otherwise it will have no effect. Under MagiCMac therefore
MSND (or Z_MSND) that simulates these funtions on the Mac must have been
installed.

SYSSOUND.PRG installs system sounds in place of the 'Ping!' and for
the window-shading function. For this the samples PING.SMP, SHADE.SMP
and UNSHADE.SMP are used. The samples must be available in 8-bit mono
and are replayed at 25 KHz. If any samples are missing then the
corresponding routines will not be installed. This means that you can
omit the 'Ping!', say, if you do not like it.

Under MagiCMac it is best to place the program together with the samples
in the START folder. The exact path is specified in MAGX.INF after the
#_APP entry and in most cases will be C:\GEMSYS\MAGIC\START\.

The program may be freely distributed - but only with the samples and
this text (all in unaltrererd form).

---------

A different variant of the system ping is installed be 'SysOptic'.
In that case a visual signal is given in place of the 'Ping!'. This
is ideal for MagiC-PC, for instance, which at present does not offer
any sound support.

Installation: In place of SYSSOUND.PRG, simply choose from SYSOPTIC.PRG,
SYSOPTI2.PRG, SYSOPTI3.PRG or SYSOPTI4.PRG and install one of them as
explained above. The sound files will not be neded. of course.

SYSOPTIC.PRG inverts the whole screen momentarily. SYSOPTI2.PRG inverts
just the menu bar. SYSOPTI3.PRG draws expanding rectangles over the
whole screen. SYSOPTI4.PRG inverts the menu bar three times in
succession.

History
=======

V1.1, February 1999
-------------------

- Increase in the far too small stack for all programs. SysSound and
SysOptic often used to give problems with diverse installed system
extensions (or when several were used together).

V1.0, March 1998
----------------

- Optical variant written.
- First published version

V0.0, June 1997
---------------

- SysSound written, not yet released

Have fun!
