rsm is a supported cluster transport type.
Remote Shared Memory (RSM) is a memory-based interconnect technology
that allows data sharing between multiple systems. The Sun Cluster inter-node
cluster communication framework is already multitransport capable with support
of DLPI. RSM Transport adds a new high performance layer under the Sun Cluster
transport framework to provide support for PCI/SCI and Sun Firelink. Its features
include:
- True zero copy for cluster file system and global devices
messages
- Reliable heartbeats
- Low latency data messaging and better bandwidth utilization
due to direct transport over the reliable interconnects, eliminating TCP/IP
networking protocol overhead
