Sun Cluster Module Overview |
The Sun Cluster module enables you to monitor and view cluster resources.
To administer a cluster, you still need to make use of the command-line utilities provided with Sun Cluster and the appropriate disk volume management software.

| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Cluster | Two or more interconnected nodes sharing a Sun Cluster file system and configured to run failover, parallel, or scalable resources. |
| Cluster Node | A node that is configured to be a cluster member. It might or might not be a current member. |
| Logical Host | A group of resources that moves as a unit between cluster nodes. The resources include a collection of network host names and their associated IP addresses and application resources. Each logical host is mastered by one physical host at a time. |
| Mastered Object | An object that is under control of a node. |
| Resource | An instance of a resource type. Many resources of the same type can coexist, each resource with its own name and property values, so that many instances of the underlying application can run on the cluster. |
| Resource Group | A resource group is a container for resources. After you create a resource, you can populate it with resources. The collection of resources in a resource group is part of the resource group unit and moves as such when a failover occurs. Typically, related and interdependent resources are grouped. You can establish dependencies between resources that rely on each other (such as logical host and shared address). |
| Resource Type | Defines a resource that has been instrumented to be highly available and run under the control of the Resource Groups Manager. |
| Shared Address | A failover resource group that contains one or more resources that are only of the shared address resource type. |
| Scalable Service | A kind of resource group that contains a resource of the scalable service resource type. More than one node at a time can master this kind of resource group. |
