Configuring Data Services

SunPlex^TM Manager provides a complete installation and configuration feature for applications, such as an Oracle^® database and Sun^TM Open Net Environment (Sun ONE) Web Server software, on the cluster.

Based on a minimal amount of user input through web-based wizards, SunPlex Manager performs the following steps:

Installs the application binaries on all nodes of the cluster
Edits the application's configuration files
Configures the cluster to run the application
Starts the application in the cluster framework

The database applications are complex products, and the configuration possible through SunPlex Manager is limited. You must have a thorough understanding of the data service before you use SunPlex Manager to install and configure your application. The Sun Cluster 3.1 Data Services Installation and Configuration Guide and the application documentation contain additional information.
