AMPLE 0.30 error messages

Here is a list of all error messages generated by AMPLE:

! User dictionary full

Too many user words have been defined. AMPLE has a fixed 128k user
dictionary size.

! Mistake

AMPLE has detected a syntax error in your program, and is unable to
compile or run it.

! Too many numbers

The player's numeric stack has overflowed (64 integers maximum).

! Not enough numbers

A word required one or more numbers that were not present on the
player's numeric stack.

! Too many levels

It is not possible to nest calls to more than 32 deep. This includes
IF(...)IF, FOR(...)FOR, REP(...)REP and ACT(...)ACT.

! End of text

The end of the program has been reached unexpectedly; maybe an IF( has
not been terminated.

! Bad key signature

AMPLE has encountered a key signature with illegal words or symbols. Only
notes are allowed between K(...)K.

! No room

AMPLE has run out of memory.

! Bad player

AMPLE has detected that a player number is out of range. AMPLE supports
up to 32 dynamic players, numbered 1 to 32 inclusive.

! Bad ensemble

AMPLE has detected an illegal ensemble number used with SHARE. There are
33 ensembles, numbered 0 to 32.

! Bad DIM

The amount of memory requested by DIM is out of range.

! Bad address

The address supplied to #?, #! or #+! is illegal (addresses for these
words must be on 32-bit boundaries).

! Bad ARRAY

An array index supplied to ARRAY was out of bounds.

! Bad frame pointer

FCOPY raises this error if a frame pointer has not been set using FRAME.

! Bad frame variable

FVAR raises this error if the requested frame variable is out of range.

! Bad bar

AMPLE has found an illegal bar length (raised by |).

! Bad bar length

BAR raises this error if the bar length is out of range.

! Bad FCOPY

FCOPY raises this error if the number of items is out of range.

! Too many strings

The string stack has overflowed.

! Not enough strings

A word required one or more strings that were not present on the 
global string stack.

! Bad music action

ACT( raises this error if the action number is out of range (less
than zero).

! Bad RANDL parameter

RANDL raises this error if its parameter is out of range (-32768
to 32767).

! Out of range

PITCH, MIDIPITCH and VEL raise this error if their parameters are out of range.

! Bad ARM register

R? and R! raise this error if the specified ARM register is out of
range (0 to 9 inclusive).

! Bad tempo setting

=T raises this error if its tempo setting is not achievable, in that
the tempo is too fast and the current duration (set by ,) is too high.

! Bad voice

VOICE, VOICES, RVOICES and ; raise this error if the voice number is
out of range (1 to 16).

! Error returned by SYS call

SYS or $SYS return this error if the SYS call returned an error. The
original error is reported.

! Key value out of range

QKEY raises this error if the specified key is out of range.

! Bad internal channel

CHANNEL raises this error if the channel number is out of range
(1 to 8 inclusive).

! Bad internal voice name

CHANNELVOICE raises this error if the voice name is not recognised.

! Bad internal stereo position

STEREO raises this error if the stereo position is out of range
(-127 to 127).

! Bad internal volume setting

VOLUME raises this error if the volume setting is out of range
(1 to 127).

! Bad MIDI program number

MIDIPROGRAM raises this error if the MIDI program change value is
out of range (1 to 127).

! Bad MIDI line

MIDILINE raises this error if the MIDI line value is out of range
(1 to 4).

! Bad MIDI channel

MIDICHANNEL raises this error if the MIDI channel value is out of
range (1 to 16).

! Bad MIDI MONO channel

MIDIMONO raises this error if the MIDI channel value is out of range
(1 to 16).

! Bad MIDI pressure

MIDIPRESSURE and MIDICHPRESSURE raise this error if the pressure level
is out of range (0 to 127).

! Bad MIDI control

=MIDIC raises this error if the MIDI controller number is out of range
(0 to 127) or if more than 16 controllers have been declared for this
player.

! Bad staccato duration

=. raises this error if the staccato duration is out of range (0 to
12).

! Bad list index

{ raises this error if the supplied list index exceeds the size of the
list.

! MIDI controller not initialised

=MIDIC, +MIDIC and -MIDIC raise this error if the specified controller has
not been previously declared using MIDIC.

! MIDI pitch wheel not initialised

=MIDIP, +MIDIP and -MIDIP raise this error if the pitch wheel has not been
previously declared using MIDIP.

! Unable to initialise AMPLESupport module

This error is raised if the AMPLESupport module cannt be initialised.

! Illegal PROP parameter

PROP raises this error if either the beats or the proportion value is
out of range (minimum proportion is 2 1 PROP).

! Missing )P

This is raised if either GO is found inside P( ... )P, or if a P( has been
found without a matching )P within the same word definition.

! Unable to execute this program

This is raised if the AMPLE program cannot be executed for some reason.

! Unable to load library

This is raised by the LIBRARY command if it cannot find the specified
library.

! Bad rehearsal mark

This is raised by * (rehearsal mark) if the value supplied is out of range
(ie zero or negative).

! Unknown word

This is raised by ADDR if the supplied word name cannot be found in the user
dictionary.

! Unable to export MIDI file

This is raised when AMPLE is unable for some reason to export a MIDI file.

! Unable to create !Scrap directory

This is raised when AMPLE cannot find the !Scrap application,

! No MIDI tracks in this file

This is raised when a MIDI file is exported that has no tracks in it.

! Cannot play note on unused voice

This is raised when an event (note/rest/hold) is played on a voice that has
not been assigned to a MIDI voice (with MIDIV) or an internal voice (with
INTERNALV).
