<HTML><h1>Making help pages</h1>

This is a quick guide about how to make a help page.

When youve decide on on a rough structure for your help you can start on the
contents page. Write the text first, and then format it to 77 columns wide,
so that it fits nicely into an editor window. You can use Ctrl-F6 in Zap to
do this.

Youll need to replace any occurences of '&amp;' or '&lt;' in your text. First
replace '&amp;' with '&amp;amp;' and then replace '&lt;' with '&amp;lt;', using the search
and replace feature of you editor <a href="entities#why">(Why?)</a>. Then, add the string '&lt;HTML>' at
the start of your text <a href="structure#why">(Why?)</a>.

Now you can add your <a href="hyperlinks">hyperlinks</a> and <a href="headings">heading styles</a>. You may find Microhelps
<a href="debugging">debugging features</a> useful at this point.

Once a rough contents page is in place you can write the rest of your pages
in a similar way.

Finally, add a page called Index with a hyperlinked list of the pages in your
help directory.

Then test it all!
